| The BRA (initially BRC - Baltic Road Council) was established in 1989 with the aim of co-ordinating the activities of the Baltic road organisations in order to work out and implement the road maintenance strategy of the region.
The BRA has national sections in each of the three countries. Each section delegates 4 representatives to the Council of the Association, one of them being the chairman, one-deputy chairman and two members.
The Council of the BRA performs the following tasks:
co-ordinates the scientific and technological work and mutual exchange of information;
promotes co-operation in the production of materials, equipment and road furniture;
performs implementation of new tehnological processes and state-of-the-art computer software;
carries out implements uniform technical, economic and legal road policy;
deals with quality problems in road maintenance;
adopts regional norms and recommendations;
In order to implement all the above tasks, the BRA arranges meetings, conferences, seminars and symposiums and supervises the approximation of the legislation in the road field in accordance with the requirements of the European Union.
The BRA has a right to submit proposals to the governments and parliaments of the participating countries, as well as represent those countries at international road meetings.

NRA TC 34 Road Structure arranged in cooperation with Baltic Road Association and Norsk Asfaltforening the NordBalt Seminar Joint Nordic/Baltic Symposium on Pavement Design and Performance Indicators 13 - 14 February in Oslo, Norway. The presentations are now published.
NordBalt Seminar on Road Pavements will take place in autumn, 2007 in Norway.
